The ingredients that are combined in this salad are so different... on one side is the juicy flavor of the cucumber, on another side the fresh flavor of the spearmint and on another side the soft and creamy flavor of the yogurt.

Although the ingredients are so different...
when these flavors and textures are fused in a salad, an indescribable flavor is obtained . The only thing that we can say is that you have to prepare it and try it to have this great experience.



The origin of this salad appears to come from Mesopotamia, where a salsa was prepared known as “Tzatziki" and it was accompanied with bread. Such salsa has also been found in distinct cultures and countries. Such has been the impact , the variations and the adaptations through the ones that salsa has gone through, that now the world enjoys it in the form of a salad and here we are going to show you how the Mexicans enjoy it.

– The cucumber and yogurt salad is a perfect accompaniment of a roasted
fish. We also recommend it as first course of any meal.


About the Recipe

  • For the beginners this salad is a very good start.
  • The yogurt that is used in this salad must be natural and unsweetened. We recommend the Greek yogurt because it will give a fantastic creaminess to the dish.
  • In the salad spearmint is used but mint could also be used. It doesn’t matter the herb that is used but preferably use it fresh.

  • Serves 2 portions.


Ingredients

  • 1 Cucumber (11.4 oz)
  • 1 cup of Natural Yogurt (4.2 fl oz)
  • 1/2 Lime (.5 oz)
  • 1 Garlic clove (.1 oz)
  • 1 Spearmint sprig (.3 oz)
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/4 tablespoon of Salt

  • Cookware

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Chopping Board
  • 1 Mixing Spatula
  • 1 Peeler
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Lime Squeezer (optional)

  • Directions

    Chop Ingredients


    1. Finely chop 1 garlic clove and 1 spearmint sprig. Upon completion put these ingredients in a bowl and reserve.
    2. Peel 1 cucumber, cut it lengthwise and remove the seeds.


    It is very important to remove the seeds of the cucumber if not your salad is going to soften.


    1. Cut into half moons the cucumber with the one you worked, then set aside.



    Mix Ingredients


    1. Also add in the bowl, where the garlic and the spearmint are:
    • 1 cup of Natural Yogurt.
    • The juice of 1/2 Lime.
    • Pepper to taste.
    • 1/4 tablespoon of Salt.


    1. Mix very well the bowl ingredients with a mixing spatula.
    2. Add in the bowl the cucumber half moons that were cut.
    3. Mix very well the cucumber and yogurt salad with the mixing spatula.
    4. Put in the fridge the cucumber and yogurt salad and leave it resting for 10 minutes, so the flavors settle and mix.
