The tortilla chip concept is really very simple. They are tortilla triangles with crispy consistency and rough texture . The tortilla chips are used to garnish dishes like the typical refried beans. They are also used to put them on the center of the table to enjoy them with a salsa. But the best of the tortilla chips is that they can be used as spoon to enjoy a dip.
About the Recipe
- This is an ideal recipe since it is easy to make, it is cheap and few ingredients are used.
- If old tortillas are used in this recipe, the tortilla chips will have a better consistency.
- In this recipe any type of vegetable oil can be used.

- Recipe for 1 basket full of tortilla chips.

- Preheat the oven to 355º F.
- Cut 6 corn tortillas into equal triangles, then reserve.
You can also cut the tortillas into small rectangles. This type of tortilla chip can be used to garnish soups and salads. |
- Moisten a pastry brush with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and varnish the superior part of a baking sheet, until it has a small oil layer that covers the baking sheet.
If you have cooking spray it can also be used to spray the baking sheet. In this way the pastry brush doesn’t have to be used. |
- Put in the baking sheet that was varnished the maize tortilla triangles that were cut, without overlaps.
- Sprinkle over the tortilla triangles that were put on the baking sheet, 1/4 tablespoon of salt.
- Put in the oven the baking sheet and leave the tortilla triangles baking for about 8 minutes, until they are moderately browned and the ends start to bend.
